Principles and values

The English School defines itself as a school based on ethical principles, non-doctrinaire and independent and not subject to political or religious interests. This position of independence guarantees that it can fulfil its primary function: develop in its pupils critical independence, self-knowledge, internal freedom and rational dialogue about and with the world.

The English School ensures that each pupil receives individual attention in terms of learning activities and follow up, providing personal and professional guidance appropriate to their needs.

The English School plans, creates and distributes curricular proposals adapted to the diversity of the capabilities, interests and motivations of the pupils.

The English School fights against sexist stereotypes, promoting respect for the individuality of each sex in an attempt to achieve a fairer, richer personalised development which is complementary to both men and women.

The English School promotes, among the members of its school community, a feeling of belonging in regard to all the people that form part of it, promoting a fundamental ethical principle: respect for the values that govern one’s relationships and those of others.

The English School educates according to and for freedom, promoting processes which drive the development of the pupils towards moral independence, freedom and shared responsibility that favours the capacity of choice and decision-making.

The English School undertakes educative actions that promote the moral independence and reflective thought of the pupils as a basic value to guarantee freedom of people, as well as the capacity to decide for one’s self in response to being along or forming part of a crowd.

The English School imparts a comprehensive, integrated, non-selective and non-competitive learning environment that enables the personal development of the pupil according to their own characteristics, focusing on diversity rather than inequality.

The English School promotes respect and comprehension of different individuals, focusing on diversity rather than inequality.

The English School organises training, cultural and leisure activities of a voluntary nature that offer new opportunities for learning outside of the school context.
